Media Accreditation FAQ

Pre-festival Registration

1. What is Media Accreditation?

Media Accreditation identifies you as a media professional and is personalized, non-transferable, and grants you the followings:

Please note that Media Accreditation does not grant access to the Festival parties nor receptions.

2. How do I get accredited for the Festival? What conditions must be met for accreditation?

Accreditation is issued directly by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS). You must submit the following documents on-line in order to complete the accreditation:

  1. Proof of identity as a media (e.g. Work Pass or Business Card) ;
  2. Relevance of media content to the film industry or film festival is a pre-condition for accreditation;
  3. Recent photo for production of the pass.
3. Once I have filled out the accreditation application, do I receive confirmation that the application has been received?

Once your online accreditation form is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement email from the HKIFFS. If no acknowledgement is received 30 minutes after the submission, please submit your form again. Please ensure your email address is correct.[The acknowledgement receipt only indicates successful submission of your data, but NOT a successful accreditation.]

4. When is the application deadline for the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF)? How do I know the result?

The deadline for Media Accreditation is 24 Feb 2012. Applications containing complete information and all required copy of supporting documents will be processed around 2 weeks from the date of submission. You will be informed via email on or before 5 March 2012 (depending on the date of application) whether your application is successful.

5. Am I guaranteed to get a Press Pass once I have submitted the accreditation form?

The HKIFFS will review the application and reserves the right to approve or reject accreditation.

At the festival

6. Where can I collect my Press Pass?

Upon approval of Media Accreditation, an email notification with collection information will be sent to you.

7. Can someone else pick up my Press Pass for me?

Yes. However, please ensure that the person responsible for picking up your pass on your behalf has a copy of the application confirmation email from the HKIFFS, a letter of authorization from you and proof of identity.

8. For how long is my Press Pass valid?

The Press Pass is valid for the entire duration of the 36th HKIFF (21.3 - 5.4.2012).

9. If I lose my Press Pass, how can I get a replacement?

Please report loss at the HKIFF Hospitality & Media Centre located at 4/F, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong immediately. Your pass can be reissued for a fee of HKD100 (in cash and a receipt will be issued), and the replacement will be issued within 24 hours.

1. What is Media Accreditation?

2. How do I get accredited for the HAF? What conditions must be met for accreditation?

Accreditation is issued directly by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society Limited (HKIFFS). You must fill out the application form and submit your recent photo.

You will be informed by email within 5 working days whether your accreditation is successful. HKIFFS reserves the right to approve or reject accreditation.

Please note that you are NOT guaranteed to get a Media Badge until you register at the HAF official website (www.haf.org.hk) upon successful accreditation (see Question 4)

3. Once I fill out the accreditation application, would I receive confirmation that the application has been received?

Yes. Once your online accreditation form is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt from the HKIFFS. If no acknowledgement is received 30 minutes after the submission, please submit your form again. Please ensure your email address is correct. [The acknowledgement receipt only indicates successful submission of your data, but NOT a successful accreditation.]

4. Am I guaranteed to get a Media Badge once I submit the accreditation form?

The HKIFFS will review the application and reserves the right to approve or reject accreditation.

Please note that upon successful accreditation, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide will send you a registration code to register free-of-charge at the HAF official website (www.haf.org.hk). The HAF will perform a final review and send you a confirmation email regarding the collection of the Media Badge. 5. Can I also attend the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF)?

The HAF Media Badge is for official events of the 10th HAF (19-21 March 2012) only. You have to apply for a Press Pass for HKIFF separately. Please click here.

6. Can I also attend the 6th Asian Film Awards (AFA)?

The HAF Media Badge is for official events of the 10th HAF (19-21 March 2012) only. You have to apply for Press Pass for AFA separately. Please choose the "6th AFA accreditation" when filling in the online accreditation form.

7. Can I also attend Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART)?

The HAF Media Badge is for official events of the 10th HAF (19-21 March 2012) only. You have to apply for a Press Pass for FILMART separately. You may register at the FILMART Registration Counter during FILMART (19-22 March 2012).

8. Where can I collect my Media Badge?

After you are successfully accredited through the HKIFFS system and registered through the HAF official website, a confirmation email will be sent to you regarding the collection of the Media Badge.

9. For how long is my Media Badge valid?

The Media Badge is valid during the 10th HAF (19-21 March 2012).

10. What should I do if I have lost my Media Badge?

If you have lost your Media Badge, please contact the HAF staff at the registration counter during the 10th HAF.

2. How do I get accredited? What conditions must be met for accreditation?

Accreditation is issued directly by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS). You must submit proof of identity as a media (e.g. Work pass or Business Card) online in order to complete the accreditation.

3. Once I have filled out the accreditation application, do I receive confirmation that the application has been received?

Yes. Once your online accreditation form is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement email from the HKIFFS. If no acknowledgement is received within 30 minutes after submission, please submit your form again. Please ensure that your email address is correct.

4. When is the application deadline for accreditation?

The deadline for Media Accreditation is 2 March 2012. You will receive a confirmation letter on or before 9 March 2012 on the accreditation (depending on the date of application).

5. Am I guaranteed to get a Press Badge once I have submitted the accreditation form?

The HKIFFS will review the application and reserves the right to approve or deny accreditation. The successful applicants will receive a confirmation letter, if you do not receive any notification by 9 March 2012, you may consider your application was not successful.

6. Can I have access to all areas in the venue with the Press Badge?

When filling out the accreditation form, please check the areas (to a maximum of two) that you wish to have access to:

A – Red Carpet Backdrop #1 (Drop Off)

D – The Presentation Ceremony in Grand Hall

Upon approval of Media Accreditation, you will receive a Press badge clearly coded your designated access areas.

**Subject to restriction

There will be five press zones in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, each requiring an access pass. Each media member can obtain one pass from Zones A, B or C, and one pass from Zones D or E, with a maximum of two passes per person.

7. Can I also attend the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) and the 9th Hong Kong –Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF)?

The AFA Media Accreditation is for AFA only. You have to apply a press pass separately for FILMART and the 10 th HAF. To apply Press Pass for FILMART, please go to http://www.hkfilmart.com/filmart/contact.htm.

8. I also want to attend other events for the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), is that possible?

For Media Accreditation of the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), please choose the "36th HKIFF" when filling in the online accreditation form.

At the Ceremony

9. Where can I collect my Press Badge?

Upon approval of Media Accreditation, an email notification with collection information will be sent to you.

10. For how long is my Press Badge valid?

The Press Badge is only valid for the ceremony (19 March 2012).

11. Can I enter the backstage with the Press Badge?

Except for the Photo Call Area in the backstage, no Press is allowed to access backstage and the Press Badge can only allow you to access designated areas as coded on the badge.
