Media Accreditation FAQ

Pre-festival Registration

1. What is Media Accreditation?

Media Accreditation identifies you as a media professional and is personalized, non-transferable, and grants you the followings:

• Access to festival film screenings with the conditions below:

Admission will be granted for all non sold-out screenings*, subject to availability of seats after the admission of all VIP Pass, ticket, Super Value Pass and Matinee pass holders.

*Media Accreditation does not grant admission to Opening Films (at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre), Awards Gala, Closing Film(s) and all films shown in the HK Film Archive (film code ends with R).

• Access to press conferences and press zones.
• Access to press kits and updates.

Please note that Media Accreditation does not grant access to the Festival parties nor receptions.

2. How do I get accredited for the Festival? What conditions must be met for accreditation?

Accreditation is issued directly by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS). You must submit the following documents on-line in order to complete the accreditation:

1. Proof of identity as a media (e.g. Work Pass or Business Card) ;
2. Relevance of media content to the film industry or film festival is a pre-condition for accreditation;
3. Recent photo for production of the pass.

3. Once I have filled out the accreditation application, do I receive confirmation that the application has been received?

Once your online accreditation form is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement email from the HKIFFS. If no acknowledgement is received 30 minutes after the submission, please submit your form again. Please ensure your email address is correct.

4. When is the application deadline for the 34^th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF)? How do I know the result?

The deadline for Media Accreditation is March 5, 2010. Applications containing complete information and all required copy of supporting documents will be processed around 2 weeks from the date of submission. You will be informed via email on or before March 12, 2010 (depending on the date of application) whether your application is successful.

5. Am I guaranteed to get a Press Pass once I have submitted the accreditation form?

The HKIFFS will review the application and reserves the right to approve or deny accreditation. For enquiries, please contact media_accreditation@hkiff.org.hk

6. How can I also attend the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) and the 8^th Hong Kong - Asia Film Finance Forum (HAF)?

The HKIFF Media accreditation is for the 34^th HKIFF only. Please check 8^th HAF box for HAF Media Accreditation. You have to apply separately for  the FILMART. 7. Can I attend the 4^th Asian Film Awards (AFA) with the HKIFF Press Pass?

For Pass Badge of the 4^th Asian Film Awards, please choose the “4^th AFA” when filling in the online accreditation form.

At the festival

8. Where can I collect my Press Pass?

Upon approval of Media Accreditation, an email notification with collection information will be sent to you.

9. Can someone else pick up my Press Pass for me?

Yes. However, please ensure that the person responsible for picking up your pass on your behalf has a copy of the application confirmation email from the HKIFFS, a letter of authorization from you and proof of identity.

10. For how long is my Press Pass valid?

The Press Pass is valid for the entire duration of the 34^th HKIFF (21.3 - 6.4.2010).

11. If I lose my Press Pass, how can I get a replacement?

Please report loss at the HKIFF Media Centre located at the official hotel or the office of the HKIFFS immediately. Your pass can be reissued for a fee of HKD100 (in cash and a receipt will be issued), and the replacement will be issued within 24 hours.

1. What is Media Accreditation?

Media Accreditation identifies you as a media professional and is personalized, non-transferable, and grants you the following:

• Access to specific press zones on the day of the award ceremony
• Access to press kits and updates of the AFA

Please note that Media Accreditation does not grant access to any reception and after-party.

2. How do I get accredited? What conditions must be met for accreditation?

Accreditation is issued directly by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) You must submit the following documents on-line in order to complete the accreditation

1. Proof of identity as a media; (e.g. Work pass or Business Card)

When filling out the accreditation form, please check the areas (to a maximum of two) that you wish to have access to:

                A – Red Carpet Backdrop #1 (Drop Off)                              D – The Ceremony in Grand Hall

                B – Red Carpet Backdrop #2 (Interview zone)                    E – Backstage (photo call area)

                C – Along the Red Carpet

7. Can I also attend the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) and the 8^th Hong Kong –Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF)?

The AFA Media Accreditation is for AFA only. Please check 8^th HAF box for HAF Media Accreditation. You have to apply separately for FILMART and the 8^th HAF. For more information, please go to http://www.hkfilmart.com/filmart/contact.htm.

8. I also want to attend other events for the 34^th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), is that possible?

For Media Accreditation of the 34^th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), please choose the "34^th HKIFF" when filling in the online accreditation form.

At the Ceremony

9. Where can I collect my Press Badge?

Upon approval of Media Accreditation, an email notification with collection information will be sent to you.

10. For how long is my Press Badge valid?

The Press Badge is only valid for the ceremony (March 22, 2010).

11. Can I enter the backstage with the Press Badge?

Except for the Photo Call Area in the backstage, no Press is allowed to access backstage and the Press Badge can only allow you to access designated areas as coded on the badge.  Otherwise all areas are out-of-bounds.

HAF Press Pre-registration

1. What is Media Accreditation?

Media Accreditation identifies you as a media professional and is personalized, non-transferable, and grants you the followings:

• Complimentary access to HAF and FILMART area
• Complimentary access to all HAF and FILMART official networking events, screenings seminars and other special events, except for those by invitation only (Some events may require pre-registration and are on a first-come-first-served basis).
• Press Junket on March 22, 2010 in the morning arranged by the HAF with filmmakers and private interview arranged by HAF with filmmakers (Appointments must be made online or on site and are on a first-come-first-served basis).

Please note that Media Accreditation does not grant access to HAF parties nor receptions.

2. How do I get accredited for the HAF? What conditions must be met for accreditation?

Accreditation is issued directly by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS). You must fill in the application form, along with your recent photo.

Free admission for approved Press.

You will be informed by email within 5 working days whether your accreditation is successful. HKIFFS reserves the right to approve or deny accreditation.

3. Once I have filled out the accreditation application, do I receive confirmation that the application has been received?

Yes. Once your online accreditation form is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt from the HKIFFS. If no acknowledgement is received 30 minutes after the submission, please submit your form again. Please ensure your email address is correct. [The acknowledgement receipt only indicates the status of data received, NOT the success of accreditation.]

4. Am I guaranteed to get a Press Badge once I have submitted the accreditation form?

5. Can I also attend the 34^th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF)?

The HAF Media Accreditation is for the 8^th HAF events (22 – 24.3.2010) and FILMART (22 – 25.3.2010) only. You have to apply for a Press Pass for HKIFF separately. Please click here for registration.

The HAF Press Badge is only valid during the 8^th HAF period (22 – 24.3.2010) and for the access to HAF area.
