Presented by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, the annual Summer IFF is back! With doubled fun and excitement for all youngsters and movie-goers in August 2008, 'Summer Pops' brings the coolest hip movies from all over the world, such as Japan, Korea, France, India and USA., and the latest award-winning films from the Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals. Another section, the 'Summer Classics', features indisputable classics by two masters of world cinema who passed away recently, the Swedish Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007) and the Japanese Ichikawa Kon (1915-2008).
1. Summer Pops
With a selection of 16 films from all over the world, including award-winning films from the Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals, 'Summer Pops' ensures all movie-lovers a busy schedule this summer. Among the Chinese films, we are proud to present Ocean Flame as the Opening Film of Summer IFF 2008, and Lost, Indulgence and A Decade of Love as Gala Premieres. A special section 'Bollywood Fever' includes 4 latest titles from the acclaimed film production centre of India, with unique song and dance numbers, romance, comedy, and dare-devil thrills in each extravaganza. Om Shanti Om, which has swept the HKIFF audience off their feet earlier this March, will be shown again and not to be missed!
2. Summer Classics
As a continuation of the 'Ingmar Bergman Forever' retrospective in the 32nd Hong Kong International Film Festival, the 'Summer Classics' has selected 5 more classics by the Swedish filmmaker, including The Seventh Seal, Winter Light and Shame. 'Summer Classics' also features 8 classic works by the Japanese master Ichikawa Kon, including the renowned The Burmese Harp, Fires on the Plain and An Actor's Revenge.
